Biographical Note
Joel Walker was born about 1739 (or 1747?) in Virginia to Tandy (1714?-1751) and Judith (Langford) Walker (d.1752). He was one of seven children. Walker married Sarah Bowen and had at least one child.
William Smith was married to Elizabeth Ferguson and had at least one child, a son named Samuel (b. abt.1790).
No biographical information was found on Dennis Pullman.
Scope and Content
This legal document describes the lawsuit filed by Joel Walker against William Smith and Dennis Pullman for unpaid debt. While the original debt was said to be fifty-five dollars–a considerable amount of money in 1810–the closing sentence of the letter states that the plaintiff is suing for the sum of ten dollars.
