Administrative History
The Farmville Guard (Company A, 2nd Virginia Infantry) served in the American Civil and Spanish-American wars and saw service on the Mexican border in 1916. During World War I, the company was called into service to guard the Norfolk and Western Railway at St. Paul, Virginia, before being stationed at Camp McClellan (Anniston, Alabama) in September 1917.
Scope and Content
The Farmville Guard (Company A, 2nd Virginia Infantry) Poster is a single item. Entitled "Soldiers Memorial: the War of 1917" and illustrated with military scenes, the poster contains the company's World War I roster, together with a brief chronology of the company's activities.
