This collection was donated to Longwood University by Louisa Brown Glassell's daughter-in-law, Susan Boice O'Hara Christopher. It is unknown when the collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.


Biographical sketch

Sarah Margaret Leech was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1925. She attended [then] State Teachers College from 1943 to 1945. While at the school she was a member of Gamma Theta sorority and the YWCA.

Scope and content

The scrapbook in this collection, which dates from 1916-1918, documents Louisa Brown Glassell's time at the State Female Normal School.

General Note

There is moderate to significant insect damage to many of the scrapbook pages as well as a nearly-separated crease across the front cover and several of the first pages. This damage greatly affects the legibility and stability of the scrapbook
