Biographical / Historical Note

From Wikipedia: William Howard Armstrong (September 14, 1911 – April 11, 1999) was an American writer of children's literature and educator, best known for his 1969 novel Sounder, which won the Newbery Medal.

Scope and Contents

The William Armstrong Collection, 1938-1997, contains awards, certificates, and memorabilia from William Armstrong's life. Several of his books and manuscripts are included in the collection but are housed within the Hampden-Sydney book collection.
