Folder 2 contains documents from early in the Confederacy during South Carolina's secession. Included in this folder are reports on Charleston Harbor defenses and plans for taking Fort Sumter. Along with plans for Fort Sumter, there are also early application letters from General Abraham Meyers and Mexican-American war veterans from the Palmetto Regiment. Also among these papers is the first report from Robert W. Barnwell (whose vote made Jefferson Davis president of the CSA) conferring with the National Government in Washington D.C.
