Biographical / Historical

William A. Gordon served as a member of the Confederate army during the American Civil War, mostly with the 1st Regiment of Engineers, Army of Northern Virginia. As of 1865, he practiced law in Washington, D.C.

Scope and Contents

The memoirs include recollections of Gordon's childhood in Georgetown and Washington, D.C., of his relatives and friends, and of his career in the 1st Regiment of Engineers with the Army of Northern Virginia (1862-1865) as well as genealogical information.
