Biographical Note
The receipt in this collection is made out to "W. C. Franklin," likely Walter C. Franklin, who attended VAMC in the late 1870s. Walter C. Franklin attended VAMC during the 1874-1875 and 1875-1876 school years. He was from Appomattox County, Virginia.
Giles D. Thomas served as the VAMC treasurer from 1875-1879.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of a receipt received by W. C. Franklin on March 8, 1876, from the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College. The receipt for $1.50 worth of medical expenses is signed by the college's treasurer, Giles D. Thomas.
