Scope and Content

Soldier in Company K, 17th Regiment of the North Carolina State Troops in the Civil War. Letter written July 21, 1864, from Greenville, North Carolina, to Major R. S. Tucker. Harris asks Tucker to use his influence with his commanding General to recommend him for the position of quartermaster in Washington, North Carolina, on account of failing health and his desire for an easy position.
