The processing, arrangement, and description of the R. J. Davis Pass was completed in September 2013.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of signed Confederate States of America pass for R. (Robert?) J. Davis, dated May 9, 1862. The pass grants Davis permission to travel to and from the Richmond area for 60 days, providing he not share any information that would be potentially "injurious to the Confederate States of America." The pass is signed by the provost marshal (E. Griswald?). The verso side includes Davis' signature of allegiance to the CSA.
