Historical note
The Young People's Conference of the Valley Street Baptist Church in Abingdon, VA was formed in July 1934 as an organization through which the youth could get more involved in the church organization.
Scope and Content
Collection consists of correspondence, minutes, and financial information for the Valley Street Baptist Church Young People's Conference. These records date from 1934 through 1937. The correspondence includes a letter from Mary McLeod Bethune, Director of the Division of Negro Affairs for the National Youth Administration. The collection also includes minutes and financial records for Sunday School meetings and the Finance committee.
