The processing, arrangement, and description of the Rufus Sarvey Papers commenced in September 2006 and was completed in September 2006.
Biographical Information
Rufus Sarvey operated a grocery store in Blacksburg, Virginia from the mid-to-late nineteenth-century. In 1879, Sarvey entered into a partnership with Thomas A. Conrad. Four years later, Sarvey sold his stock of merchandise to Charles Lyle.
Scope and Content
Collection consists of account books, a partnership agreement, and an agreement of sale involving a grocery store operated by Rufus Sarvey between 1845 and 1883.

The collection is arranged chronologically.

Additional records from Sarvey's store can be found in the Sarvay-Lyle Ledger, Ms2011-067. Entries in the ledger date from 1881 through 1888.
