Acquisition Information

This collection was an archival transfer from the Reference Division, University of Virginia Library, 1971 February 23.

Processing Information

Upon receipt from the Reference Division, the photographs were interfiled in the Special Collections department's general prints and photographs file. In 2007, the photographs were removed from the prints file and re-assembled as a collection.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of black and white photographs of scenes in Virginia. Topics include recreational activities, business and industry, people, events and historic buildings.

Arrangement

The collection is arranged alphabetically by the name of the Virginia political division (city or county) or geographic region (Eastern Shore, Piedmont) in which the photographs were taken. In addition, there are a few topical groupings (Highways).
