Scope and Content Information

The collections contains an 1860s photograph of Edmund Berkeley of Virginia, W.S. Mason of Alabama and George Spiller of Virginia by photographer H.B. Hillyer of Austin, Texas, and a photograph of Patsy Harden, an ex-slave of Staunton, Va.

There are also two undated photographs by Charles L. Maury of Salem, Va., of two scenes near Red Sulphur Springs, Roanoke; and two photographs, 1901, by M. Miley and Sons, Lexington, Va., of Natural Bridge, Va., including one of the railroad crossing and post office.
