Abstract
Account book created in Greenbrier County, near Lewisburg on the turnpike, during 1839-1840. It documents transactions for
general merchandise, and for services provided inn and tavern customers. Some of the names appearing include William Colwell
& Co., William Dixon, Isaac Hapinstall, Jack Hapinstall, James Hapinstall, E. Meeks, Doct. Moorman, Joseph Perry, Daniel Reynolds,
Mrs. Thwacker, and Rich. Sammons. Many of the persons recorded in the book lived near Edward M. Brown who was a merchant,
so the book probably belonged to him.
