Scope and Contents

Personal papers of Hale J. Posten (1904-1983), of Morgantown, West Virginia. Posten graduated from West Virginia University, A.B. (1924) and L.L.B. (1926), and married Mary Eleanor Dill in 1936. He worked as a lawyer, served in the Air Force during World War II, and was president of WVU's Alumni Association from 1968-1969. He was released from active duty as a Lieutenant Commander in 1945. Collection includes photographs, correspondence, clippings, writings, and printed material. Subjects of photographs include the Dill family and student life and football players at WVU in the mid-1920s. Correspondence includes material related to Posten's military service.

Includes images of the Dill and Harr families; Reedsville, WV (Dill family home); Miners Memorial Hospital in Fairmont (folder 3); steamboat on the Monongahela River (folder 3); and student life and football players at WVU (1920s).
