Abstract
The collection consists of a letter written by H. St. George Offutt, April 7, 1863 in Richmond, Virginia to the Postmaster of Marion, Virginia. The letter was written on official Confederate States of America Post-Office Department paper. The letter is a response to the postmaster in Marion, Virginia in reference to a M. McDaniel who was the mail carrier on a particular route. McDaniel was abandoning his position and Offutt authorized the postmaster to advertise to hire someone to replace McDaniel.
