Item: Uniform/ trousers and jacket (may not be a match) Date: ? Color: blue gray Material: wool, off white cotton lining around waist and for interior pockets of trousers, blue cotton lining on underside of pocket flaps on the jacket and has the number 261 written underneath Donor: Condition and Special Markings: special markings for trousers: wide black strip down the side, black plastic buttons instead of a zipper; special markings on jacket: gray buttons exposed down the center (darker on the outside, pale in the center) bottom button located on underside of the opposite side of the jacket (it is unseen when fully buttoned). The buttons do not go all the way up to the collar. The collar is similar to one found on an Oxford shirt, buttons are also located one on each front pocket and one the back side of each sleeve. The sleeve is similar to an oxford in that the last couple of inches (where button is located) is a separate piece of material. The sleeve has slits in the end that go up about 5". The material that forms each of the 2 completely exposed front pockets was folded 4 times creating what looks like an inch wide strip down the center. The pockets then have flaps which button down. The bottom inch of the jacket has a black ruffle that goes all the way around except for the first couple of inches on each side of the button and button hole. The ruffle has two green strips, four red strips and some white stitches in between the red strips. Condition of jacket is good (no visible stains or holes). The trousers look more worn with a hole in the black strip on the left top near the belt loop. Label in trousers reads: Virginia Polytechnic Institute Uniform Department, Blacksburg, VA (no visible name) 35-18(2) (written directly on the interior lining of the jacket with a blue ink pen.
