One De Laval Separator Company Brochures was purchased by Special Collections in April 2013. An additonal pamphlet was purchased in 2014.

Processing Information

The processing, arrangement, and description of the De Laval Separator Company Brochure was completed in August 2013. The additional pamphlet received in 2014 was added to the collection in July 2017.


Biographical Note

Karl Gustaf Patrik De Laval, founder of the De Laval Separator Company, was a Swedish inventor born in Dalarna, Sweden on May 9, 1845. De Laval patented the centrifugal dairy separator in 1878. In 1888, the AB Separator Company was founded, renamed to De Laval. De Laval died February 2, 1913.

Scope and Content

The collection contains a letter and broadside advertisement for De Laval Cream Separators, addressed to Mr. S. D. Stokes of Roanoke, Virginia. The brochure includes images of various models and information about separators. The letter is dated February 2, 1925.
