Biographical Note

Miles St. John was born in New York in 1843. He enlisted with the 48th Regiment, New York Infantry in August 1861. He served until September 1865, rising from the rank of private to 2nd lieutenant, before mustering out. Following the war, he married Kate Farrelly. They had five children. St. John died in New York in November 1935.
