Elizabeth Cooper English graduated from Princeton University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Architecture and Urban Planning. In 1987 she went on to get her Master's in Civil Engineering with a concentration in structural analysis and design and in 1997 English completed her Master's in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in architectural theory. She received her PhD in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000 with her dissertation entitled Arkhitektura I Mnimosti: The Origins of Soviet Avant-Garde Rationalist Architecture in the Russian Mystical-Philosophical and Mathematical Intellectual Tradition. English has taught structures and design studios at various universities including the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, the University of Pennsylvania, Parsons School of Design, Rhode Island School of Design, and the University of Miami. Since 1999 English has been an Assistant Professor at Tulane University's School of Architecture teaching lecture courses on structures as well as lab courses.
