Abstract
The Herman J. Bradley Correspondence consists of two letters to Bradley's family during the American Civil War. One letter was written November 10, 1861, for Bradley to his brother by Darius Russell, about Bradley's ill condition. The second was written November 7, 1864, by Bradley to his parents, from Camp Cedar Creek, Virginia. He writes about the guerilla action in the area and their capture of General Alfred N. Duffie.

Biographical Note

Herman J. Bradley was a Union soldier during the American Civil War, possibly in the Army of the Potomac.

Herman or Hermon J. Bradley (ca. 1840-1909) was a Union soldier in Company I, 17th Regiment, New York Infantry from 1861. (Darius F. Russell also served in this unit.) He was discharged due to disability in 1862. He reenlisted, serving in Company B, 9th Regiment, New York Heavy Artillery from 1864 to 1865. He is buried in Marion Cemetery, Marion, New York.
