Scope and Content

This collection consists of a single, three-page letter written by a Union soldier identified only as Henry. Addressed to the soldier's brother, the letter was written at Camp Sedgwick (presumably Virginia) on December 26, 1863. The letter focuses on reenlistments in the regiment and the bounties and furloughs promised for reenlistment. The writer also mentions the lack of wood and his efforts to pass the time in winter camp.
