Abstract
Ella G. Agnew was an educator, social worker, and home demonstration agent (1914-1919) for Virginia Tech. The Ella G. Agnew Papers consists of a monthly library report, Virginia Tech commencement exercises program for 1914, six weekly field reports made by Ms. Avie Phillips of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and a receipt to Agnew in payment for a correspondence course, "Library of Home Economics" through the American School of Home Economics.

Biographical Note

Ella G. Agnew was an educator, social worker, and home demonstration agent (1914-1919) for Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech). She was the first female home demonstration agent in the United States. At Virginia Tech, Agnew was the first woman to receive a Certificate of Merit, in 1926, and the first to have a building named in her honor - Agnew Hall in 1949.

Agnew Papers consists of a monthly library report, Virginia Tech commencement exercises program for 1914, six weekly field reports made by Ms. Avie Phillips of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and a receipt to Agnew in payment for a correspondence course, "Library of Home Economics" through the American School of Home Economics.
