Henry Lewis Francis, Sr. (1876-1945) was a Corporal in Company F, 2nd Virginia Regiment, during the Spanish-American War. The Henry Francis Correspondence contains letters from Francis at camp in Jacksonville, Florida, to his mother in Simpson, Floyd County, Virginia, about life in camp, his estranged wife, and his various misfortunes. Transcriptions are available.

Biographical Note

Henry Lewis Francis, Sr. (1876-1945) was a Corporal in Company F, 2nd Virginia Regiment, during the Spanish-American War. He was born to William and Eliza Francis in Floyd County, Virginia, and later worked in real estate in Roanoke, Virginia. Francis married Agnes Mayo (1885-1988), and they are both buried in Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke.
