Biographical Note

J. Harry McBroom attended Virginia Polytechnica Institute from 1904-1905. It is unclear if he graduated as he is not listed in the graduating classes of 1906, 1907, 1908, or 1909. He was from Abingdon, Virginia.

McBroom is probably John Harry McBroom (1884-1946), son of James William and Henrietta Jackson McBroom. He married Mary Adella Holton (sometimes called Della) on July 22, 1915, and the couple had four children. On various census records, McBroom is listed as working as a miller at a flour mill, land agent for a mining company, and bookkeeper and lived in Glade Spring, Abingdon, and Roanoke. He is buried in the Sinking Spring Cemetery in Abingdon.
