Content Description

This collection contains 14 fourteen letters written during the Civil War to Robert Clark (48th Infantry Illinois) by three Union soldiers: William B. Oliphant (6 letters) (a Sergeant in Company E, 51st Infantry Regiment Illinois), John R. Oliphant (4 letters) (Illinois E Company), Henry Willett (2 letters), and 2 unidentified letters/writings, including a leather pouch in which the letters were discovered. The letters were written primarily from Tennessee and Mississippi.

The letters accompanied with some typed transcriptions and biographical information.
