Scope and Contents
Furlough and discharge documents of Civil War soldier and Morgantown native, Private Charles B. Shisler, of the 6th West Virginia Cavalry, Company A. The documents contain routine information such as age, height, and prior occupation. Also a land indenture and power of attorney conveyance for the Nicholas B. Madera and John Burris plots of Morgantown; and an issue (vol. 1, no. 11) of the Monongalia Farmer of 1834 March 1 in which there is a preface to a biography of Hon. David Crocket.
There are also about 70 miscellaneous rolled items (ca. 1930-1990) consisting of: material related to West Virginia, including mainly historical and topographical maps; plats, architectural drawings, and aerial photographs in connection with Kiger's work as a realtor in Morgantown; and illustrative promtional material for the film "Battle of Britain" of 1969.
