Farrar Vilas Shelton was in eighth grade when he attended a meeting lead by Dr. Joseph D. Eggleston on farm demonstration work. Shelton attended the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and graduated with a degree in agriculture, he went on to become a County Demonstration Agent.
The Farrar Shelton Paper describes the initial meetings that lead to cooperative farm demonstration work in Virginia.
