Biographical Information:

Margaret H. Morton was a genealogist who lived in Farmville, Virginia. She was married to William H. Morton and usually signed her correspondence "Mrs. William H. Morton."

Scope and Contents

Correspondence and notes on Virginia families by Mrs. Margaret H. Morton, genealogist, of Farmville, Virginia in response to inquires.  Most of her notes are transcriptions of courthouse records, though she often created family trees for clients and clients sometimes sent their genealogy history to her.

Mrs. Morton's inventory is filed in the first folder, which lists folders not received with the accession.

Includes index of family names and inquirers.

Arrangement of Materials:

Margaret H. Morton used a numerical index/inventory system to group her papers.   Please see the Finding Aid/Inventory (below) which matches her inventory.

Index numbers 16, 19, 20, 21, 25, 32, 53, 65, 70, 75, 84, 86, 90 and 100 were not included in accession.
