Biographical / Historical

Wallace Strawn Douglas was born in 1901 and graduated from VMI in 1922. In 1927 he received his M.D from Northwestern University Medical School. Before World War II he was a physician in Lewiston, Idaho. From 1941 to 1946 Douglas was a Colonel in the United States Army serving as a surgeon in New Caledonia. He returned to private practice in Lewiston after the War. He died in 1982 in Lewiston.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of photocopied documents and digital images dating from Wallace S. Douglas' service as a physician during World War II with the United States Army Medical Corps. Most items relate to the administration of hospitals in New Zealand and New Caledonia where men wounded in the Pacific Theater were treated.
