These items came to the Library of Virginia in shipments of court papers under the accession number 38897 from Norfolk Va.

Historical Information

Norfolk was incorporated as a town in 1736 and incorporated as a city in 1845. It was enlarged by annexation of the town of Berkeley.

Scope and Content

Norfolk (Va.) Will Books, 1834-1979, includes the names of testator, list of heirs and year the wills were proven in court and probate records such as inventories and appraisements.
