Goochland County (Va.) Various Loose Free Negro and Slave Records, 1813-1844, are three filmed items located on frames 68-78 of Goochland County (Va.) Reel 78. The items are a schedule of slaves hired (1813-1814), a free negro registration (1834), and a free negro affidavit (1844).

The schedule of slaves hired (1813-1814) includes the names of seven slaves and the price paid to hire them for the years 1813 and 1814. The slaves either belonged to or were hired from the estate of C. F. [last name unreadable but begins with Bat--].

The free negro registration (1843) is a fragment of a registration dated 15 February 1834 for a James H[unreadable].

The free negro affidavit (1844) is titled on the folder "conduct references for Jacob Sampson." It consists of two affidavits of individuals acquainted with Jacob Sampson and his household and certifies his good character and that he kept an orderly house.
