Biographical Information

John Stewart Battle was born in New Bern, North Carolina on 11 July 1890. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1930-1933, in the Virginia Senate from 1934-1949, and as Governor from 1950-1954. He died in Charlottesville, Va., 9 April 1972.

Scope and Content

These records document the gubernatorial administration of John S. Battle from 18 January 1950 to 19 January 1954.
