Historical Information
Nelson County was formed in 1807 from Amherst County. The county was named for Thomas Nelson, Jr., governor of Virginia from June to November 1781.
Scope and Content
Nelson County (Va.) Land Records, 1808-1932, consist of a Daily Index of Receipts of Deeds for Recordation, General Indexes to Deeds, General Indexes to Deeds-- Grantors and Grantees (A-K and L-Z), a General Index to Deeds, a General Index to Deed Books, Campbell's Indexes to Deeds and General Indexes to Deeds Nos. 1 and 2.
