Northampton was formed in 1634 (original shire). Previous name: Accomack County from 1634 to 1643.
The deed and will books of Northampton County in this collection were created by the County Court.
Scope and Content
Deed Books, 1645-1718, of Northampton County Court. The deed book records the name of the grantor and grantee, the residence of both individuals and the description of property being sold or transferred. All of the volumes have indexes except (1651-1654 and 1654-1655) which contains the first and last names of both parties. It is arranged alphabetically from A-Z.
Will Books, 1645-1718, of Northampton County Court. The will book includes the name of testator, list of heirs and year the wills were proven in court and probate records such as inventories and appraisements. All of the volumes have indexes except (1651-1654 and 1654-1655) which contains the first and last names of both parties. It is arranged alphabetically from A-Z.
