Biographical/Historical Information
This church was organized in Charlotte County, Virginia on 30 August 1834. Some of its original members had previously belonged to Ashcamp Church.
Scope and Content Information
Consists of three minute books bound together. 1) Minute Book, 1834-1855, contains minutes that cover the period 30 August 1834-3 March 1855. The original members are listed on page 2 with additional membership lists on pages 46-48. 2) Minute Book, 1856-1871, contains minutes that cover the periods 16 February 1856-3 June 1861, and 5 June 1864-12 November 1871. Membership lists appear on pages 79-80 and 83-86. 3) Minute Book, 1876-1915, contains minutes that cover the periods 7 May 1876-[7] December 1879, 17-18 September 1892, December 1896-December 1900, and January 1902-28 July 1915. Membership lists appear on pages 89 and 125- 128. This church included a large black membership and some of the minutes in these volumes concern debate about their welfare.
