Historical and Biographical Information

The Dulles Area Chapter of N.O.W. was organized on August 1981, drew members from Loudoun County, Fairfax and Manassas, and congregated in Reston/Herndon. Chapter members organized and joined protests against Air France (1987-1988) and the Virginia Military Institute. Among their many activities, the Chapter offered clinic escort services, workshops, and was an active participant in the March for Women’s Equity/Women’s Lives (1989), Mobilize for Women’s Lives (1989), and We Won’t Go Back, We Will Fight Back March (1992). The Dulles Area N.O.W. Chapter unanimously voted to split from N.O.W. in 1998, following public clashes with the organization’s state and national leadership. The group remains active and maintains a digital archive of their activities from 1998 to the present.
