Henry Massilon Heuser, son of Guido Alexander Heuser and Jennie Sehorn, was born in Wytheville, Virginia on 28 February 1867. He attended summer law school at the University of Virginia and complted his bachelors law degree at Washington and Lee College in 1890. That same year he was admitted to the Virginia bar. He practiced first in Ivanhoe then reolocated to Wytheville. He served as commonwealth attorny from 1899 to 1908. He continued his practice of law until his death on 7 June 1957.
Heuser married Myra Painter on 23 August 1893 and had two sons, Paul Ernst Heuser, and Frederick Randolph Heuser. He is buried in East End Cemetery, Wytheville, Virginia.
Wythe County Commonwealth Attorney Henry Massilon Heuser, recorded details about criminal and civil cases in the Wythe County Court from July 1899 to January 1908. Heuser recorded defendant, alleged offense, laws (acts) referenced, and court decisions. Not all cases contain this information. He recorded both felony and misdemeanor offenses.
