W. F. Massey was a professor of Botany Arboriculture at the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanics Arts, and editor of  The Practical Farmer.

The collection consists of copies of correspondence to Massey from farmers, horticultural societies, and others regarding articles in  The Practical Farmer. Letters date from 1893 to 1908.
