The processing, arrangement, and description of the C.B. Anderson Account Book was completed in September 2011.

Scope and Content

C.B. Anderson Account Book contains the accounting information for "C.B. Anderson, The Cash Merchant" of Newbern, VA. Entries date from 1907 through 1909 and include names and listings of goods and prices.

There is a note on the inside cover which reads: "This book was originally used by [Newbern] M.&M. Co. ... store at Welch, W. Va as a cash book ... January 3rd 1906 - Page 1 to 38 [Anderson] cut out and filed with other books used at Welch." - May 11, 1907 Pages 1 through 38 are missing and it is believed that C.B. Anderson took over use of the book at this time.
