Biographical note

Charles Lyle attended the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College from 1878 to 1879 and again from 1882 to 1883.

Ledger contains cash accounts and goods sold by William G. Sarvay in Montgomery County, Virginia beginning in 1881. The business was sold to Charles Lyle in 1883. Ledger includes an account for the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College. Items sold include food items, shoes, clothing, and household goods. Entries date through March 1888.
