Biographical Information
H. (Harvey) D. Walters was born in Floyd County, Virginia, on April 11, 1849 to John and Rhoda (Rhutroff) Walters. In 1878 Walters moved to Montgomery County and later married Rosa M. Gardner in 1874. This union produced four children. Walters owned a jewelry store in Christiansburg, Virginia, and was only one of two "Jewelers and Watchmakers" to be listed in Chataigne's Virginia Gazetteer and Business Directory of 1888-89 for Montgomery County.
Scope and Content
The H. D. Walters Flyer is a one page advertisement, titled "Big Ring Sale," for a jewelry store in Christiansburg, Virginia, likely from the late nineteenth century. The flyer assures consumers that rings will be sold "At Cost and Below during the First Ten Days of March" due to the expected arrival of new stock.
