This collection was given to the library by Julien Green on August 28, 1973.
This collection consists of a framed engraving of the Rotunda and Lawn, by Arnout, engraved by Traversier, Paris, 1837. This plate was published in Roux de Rochelle, Etats-Unis d'Amerique (Paris, 1837) as a part of a work entitled L'Univers: Histoire et description de tous les peuples (Paris, 1835-63). It is recorded in William O'Neal's iconography of the 19th-century prints of the University of Virginia, The American Association of Architectural Bibliographers Papers , Vol. 6 (No. IIIe, pp. 89- 9). On the back is mounted Julien Green's holograph inscription to the University, 'donné à l'Université de Virginie par Julien Green 1973'.
