Louis Auchincloss, New York, writes to Robie Macauley, the fiction editor of Playboy , 1969 November 6, thanking him for the purchase of "Black Shylock" and "The sacrifice" and mentioning that these stories will be published in September 1970. In a letter, 1969 November 10, Auchincloss encloses a revised version of "The sacrifice."

This letter expresses his appreciation for Macauley's purchase of his two stories, "Black Shylock" and "The Sacrifice," and informs him that they will appear in a volume of twelve short stories to be published in 1970.
