Acquisition Information

This notebook was given to the Library in honor of Joseph M. Bruccoli by Michael Lazare, New Milford, Connecticut, on May 26, 1993.

Scope and Content Information

This addition to the Bruccoli Great War Collection consists of a pocket notebook, 1916-1918, kept by Corporal R.J. Bolingbroke, Signal Section, 16th Platoon, 5th N.F., British Expeditionary Forces. It contains notes on signals used by members of the Signal Corps, diagrams of "code time," a list of gravediggers, a list of grave plots in the Haringhe Military Cemetery in Belgium, a record of Bolingbroke's places of military service since his enlistment on September 14, 1914, and a recipe for "Beetroot Wine."
