These copies and translations were given to the Library by Ms. Angelika Powell of Collection Development, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, on March 1, 1990.

Scope and Content Information

There are 27 items, electrostatic copies and English translations of original letters and documents, 1800-1853, n.d., of the Durbeck, Gross, Vigelius, Wolf, and Hoffman families of Hesse, Germany. The majority of the letters are to Minna and John Wolf from her family in Germany and discuss matters of a personal nature and life in Hesse. Correspondents include Minna's sister Johanna Durbeck and her husband, and her sisters, Henriette Gundlach and Louise Vigelius. There are also legal, business, and educational papers and documents belonging to John Caspar Wolf and John Wolf.
