We need such exertions. We must make our own country more especially the object of our literary efforts. And I rejoice to see men of talent and literature devoting their powers of genius and investigation to those early scenes and incidents which have had such astonishing results; and which are still operating mightily on the destiny not only of America , but of the whole world."]
