[Encloses letter for the [ New York ] Tribune ; writes that he is about to leave for New Jersey where he will study small fruits with the intention of writing a book on their cultivation; states he thought of writing a series of letters on this topic as he traveled across the country, but would have to be paid well to do so; says that Charles Downing spent the morning looking at his berries; encloses manual on small fruits; explains that article on the subject could not be ready until after the season is over.]
