Nicolai , a war hero; admires Nicolai because of his great personal courage; says he wrote several articles on the works of Nicolai, including Biologie de la Guerre and his memoirs; asks him to assist the American translator, Madame H. Van Brugh , in publishing the articles; discusses her talent; says he has shown Nicolai " Declarations de l' Independence d'Esprit " and approved it; asks him to sign a copy.] (In French with typed translation)
