This addition to the Duke family papers consists of five letters and four miscellaneous items pertaining to various members of the Duke family of Charlottesville, Virginia , ca. 1886-1909, and undated. There are three letters to R. T. W. Duke, Jr. , one from Lippincott's Monthly Magazine accepting three of his poems for publication (1886 Dec 22); another from John F. Slaughter discussing his financial affairs (1886 Sep 3); and a third from William R. Duke discussing the financial affairs of Mrs. [Slaughter] and her desire to take possession of the house in question (1889 Sep 27). Also present is a copy of the poem "Father's Child" by R. T. W. Duke, Jr. and a composition by Jack Duke , his son, entitled "My Experience Camping Out" (1903).
Other items include an undated post card photograph of damage from a fire on a city street, presumably Charlottesville , and a bill for Mary Duke (1909).
